Commanding General James E. Rainey

Commander, Army Futures Command (AFC). Headquartered in Austin, Texas, AFC is the Army’s newest major command, responsible for transforming the Army to ensure war winning future readiness, employing 30,000 Soldiers and Civilians at 128 locations worldwide. In his previous position, General Rainey served at the Pentagon, where he oversaw the Army’s operations and plans. General Rainey commissioned as an infantry lieutenant upon graduating from Eastern Kentucky University in 1987. He has commanded at every level from platoon to division and has served in numerous combat deployments in both Iraq and Afghanistan. He earned a master’s degree in advanced military arts and science from the School of advanced Military Studies and another in Public Administration from Troy University. He also completed a Senior Service Fellowship at the University of Denver’s Korbel School of International Relations.

Commander Cynthia E. Davis

Commander Cynthia E. Davis is a retired Navy veteran who honorably served in the U.S. Navy for 24 years. During her military service, she assisted in developing investment, personnel, and operational readiness fiscal strategies for the Department of the Navy’s $120B annual budget. She also deployed in support of Operation Iraqi Freedom. She holds a Bachelor of Business Administration, Master of Business Administration, and Master of Science in National Resource. After serving in the military, Commander Davis returned home to Texas with a burning desire to help improve her community. She serves in her church, Celebration Church in Georgetown and in the Round Rock and Hutto communities. Cynthia published her first book called, “The Spoken Word-Changing Your Life through the Word” in 2017. She currently resides in Round Rock and is happily married with three adult children.

Don Graves

In his 99 years young, Don Graves has served his country as a combat Marine in World War II carrying a flame thrower, as a minister to thousands during a career as a pastor, as a singer, and now, as a motivational speaker talking about religion, war, patriotism and love of his country. Graves, who lives in Texas, is a survivor of the battle of Iwo Jima, the bloody South Pacific battle that killed thousands of American and Japanese men in World War II. Graves shows no signs of slowing down. “There are too many young people to educate, comrades to honor, and audiences to entertain before he stops” he shares. Don is an Ambassador for the Airpower Foundation.

Keynote Speaker

Command Sgt. Maj. Brian A. Hester

Command Sgt. Maj. Brian A. Hester acts as the principal advisor to the commanding general and staff on matters of health, welfare, morale, professional development and the effective utilization of personnel assigned to the command. Hester enlisted in the Army as an infantryman in 1990, completing his first assignment with the 2 nd Infantry Division in South Korea. He went on to serve in roles based in North Carolina, Louisiana, Maryland, Hawaii, South Carolina, and Iraq, fulfilling numerous leadership responsibilities and completing three tours in Iraq, two tours in Afghanistan and one tour in Kosovo. Hester holds a bachelor’s degree in liberal arts from Excelsior College and has completed multiple military education courses, including Ranger School and the Joint Special Operations Forces Senior Enlisted Academy.

Mike Warren

Mike Warren joined FOX 7 Austin in 2004 as an anchor and reporter. His broadcasting career began in college radio at Creighton University in Omaha, NE, where he graduated with a BA in English Literature. But broadcasting had to wait several years after college while he lived in Europe for a year and worked in financial sales in San Francisco. He got back into broadcasting as a reporter at KRNV in Reno, NV and then at KMST in Monterey, CA. His first anchor job was mornings at KTUL in Tulsa, OK and from there he moved to Phoenix, AZ where he reported and anchored at KTVK. Being from a family with a long military tradition, one of his primary callings is a commitment to the United States Military and Veterans. Mike spearheads the FOX 7 Care Force, which is the station’s effort to assist veterans and active duty military in their transitions back to civilian life. In 2013, he received the media award from the Texas Veterans Commission in recognition of his ongoing effort to help Texas veterans.
